Career

Dr. Scott Rocklage holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from the University of California. In 1994, he moved to Cubist Pharmaceuticals where he was the chairman and CEO. In 2003, Scott joined 5AM Ventures as a Venture Partner and was promoted to Managing Partner in 2004. Dr. Rocklage has served as CEO and president in other firms such as Nycomed Interventional, Amersham Health, EPIRUS Biopharmaceuticals and Ilypsa. He also worked as a director in other organizations such as Protana and Achaegon.

Scott is the Chairman of the Board of Cidara, Kinestral, and Rennovia and also serves on the Board of other firms such as Relypsa, Pulmatrix and Epirus. Dr. Rocklage is also a renowned author and has made over 100 peer-reviewed publications. With his creative skills, he has invented more than thirty U.S. patents.

Philanthropy

Scott Rocklage is a celebrated philanthropist. Together with his wife, Patty Rocklage, they donated $0.25 Million to aid in the renovation of MIT’s nano chemistry and nanotechnology labs. Scott stated that this was an appreciation to the institution for laying a firm foundation for his career and professional life.

MIT put up a plaque as a way of honoring Scott and his wife. Rocklage is also a Board member at Whitehead Institute, a non-profit organization that specializes in educational and biomedical research.
