The journey toward energy independence continues on it in the country of the United States of America. In fact, Congress has enacted legislation to help hasten the process toward energy independence. In the 1980s Congress enacted statute 26 – F which allow corporations to operate tax-free if they were able to meet a set of requirements. These requirements stated that 90% of the corporation’s revenue must be generated through the production, processing, storage, and transport of both oil and gas domestically within the borders of the United States of America and it must pay out at least 90% of its revenue to its investors.
